mariano lacort historia

Respect for our origins without relinquishing the innovation that characterised Mariano J Lacort at the onset. That is how we produce our wines today: love for the land, respect for its history.

At Bodegas Lacort, we have agreements with small Rioja vine growers; in some cases, collaborations that have lasted for more than 30 years, mainly in Rioja Alta and Rioja Alavesa.

The vines, which the grapes used to produce  our wines come from, are characterised by the calcareous-clay, ferrous-clay and alluvial soils, and a predominantly Atlantic climate.

Our wines are produced with the classical Rioja grape varieties. After the alcoholic fermentation, the wine naturally carries out the malolactic fermentation, which will transform the malic acid into lactic acid.

Later the wines begin their ageing in American oak and French oak barrels, with transfers every 4 months to eliminate the impurities precipitated during ageing. Then the wine will be refined in bottle for several months before being launched onto the market.
